Elling | Miasto Movie
The eponymous Elling is a socially awkward, completely helpless resident of Oslo. A dreamer wishing to become a writer, he remains under the care of Norwegian government. He and others like him are taking part in a special social programme. In order to make them less dependent, the government places them in pairs in shared flats in the city, where they are supposed to start their careers. Elling is paired up with the incorrigible and equally helpless womanizer Kjell – the total opposite of the protagonist. From then on, we observe how they tackle “regular” life with its everyday challenges. Slightly eccentric but warm and humorous, intelligent movie from Norway is the perfect closure to Miasto Movie in November.
