This year, Workshops of Culture in Lublin, jointly with Open Territory Foundation and National Centre for Culture will carry out Community Arts Lab – Centre (CAL Centre) within the programme Culture Centre + Local Initiatives 2016 in the city of Lublin. The programme aims at introducing innovatve animation activities in the Old Town and the City Centre, directed at increasing cooperation with local communities basing on a previously conducted diagnosis.
The programme runs from February to December 2016 and will consist of 4 stages:
- Social Diagnosis (February – May 2016)
- Presenting the results of diagnosis and announcing open call for local initiatives to be carried out in the city Centre and the Old Town (June 2016)
- Implementing local initiatives (July – October 2016)
- Conclusion and Evaluation (November 2016)
The first stage is to carry out social diagnosis in the area of the Old Town and the City Centre through participation action research. The diagnosis will be done basing on workshops coordinated by Open Territry Foundation.
The next stages of the CAL Centre is an open call for local initiatives put forward by local activitists, animators, residents of the Old Town and the city centre, their implementation in spring and summer and evaluation to be conducted by Workshops of Culture in Lublin in cooperation with the European Foundation for Urban Culture. The project is expected to end at the beginning of December 2016 with an open forum at which we will present the projects, draw conclusions about the projects and their effect on the development of local community and discuss lessons learned with regards to continuing such projects in the future.
