07.06.2019 | 17.00 | Chibi – Japanese woodblock bookmarks | for adults | free admission
During the Japanese woodblock workshop, the participants will make their own Japanese bookmark called Chibi. We will use wooden matrices 15 cm x 5 cm in size (bookmark format). Every matrix is two-sided, which will make it possible to make a print in two or more colours. The participants will transfer their patterns to the matrices, cut them out using a chisel, then apply paints using special Japanese brushes and print the image on Washi paper. They will fully master the process of matching colours from both matrices. It will be an opportunity to get acquainted with the techniques of making Japanese gradient. Project themes are figurative and abstract motifs.

One person likes to cut veggies into slices more professionally called Vichy, others like Julienne aka French cuts. There are also enthusiasts of batonnets, which are similar to juliennes, only thicker. There are rhombuses, squares, and an infinity of shapes…But the entire adventure begins on the cutting board, the most basic piece of kitchen equipment. This is the meeting place of vegetables, knives, and our creativity. During the workshop, we will make our own custom cutting boards to use for developing our art of cutting.

16.06.2019 | 11:00 | Photo album | workshop for adults | free event
Analogue photography is slowly regaining popularity and we increasingly decide that it’s actually better to deal with paper, rather than digital, photos. Photo album creation workshops can be a good pretext to print photos stored on phones or to segregate and add those which were developed and are lying around in drawers. How are we going to make albums? We will need a set of ready papers, semi-transparent tracing paper , a threat and needle. All the layers will be joined together using Japanese sewing and the final touch will be the botanical imprint on the cover.

16.06.2019 | 15:00 | Printing Workshop – A Meadow Poster | workshop for adults | the event is free
The inspiration for the workshop are richly illustrated old botanical atlases, in which every sample is drawn with incredible accuracy and care for details, and Latin names are beautifully calligraphed. During the class, we will make botanical posters featuring Polish meadows. Using stamps presenting stalks and leaves of various meadow plants, we will create our own compositions and we will design and print a poster. To print the posters, we will use professional light-resistant printing paints and high quality paper.
